Angelica sylvestris - Wild Angelica
Favouring wet places, this plant is easy to spot - with large, convex, often pinkish umbels. The hollow, purplish stems feature strongly inflated sheaths where the branches join. Earlier in the season, the leaves are all there is to go on: they are 1, 2 or 3-pinnate (with up to three levels of branching), so as well as looking at the pointed, toothed leaflets, make sure to notice the other two branches of this large leaf.
