Crepis species - Hawk's Beard family
Crepis (Hawk’s Beard) family all have two clear rows of bracts which differentiates them from the more chaotic arrangement in Hieracium
Crepis capillaris - Smooth Hawk's Beard
- leaves are shiny and hairless
- basal leaves lyre shaped and pinnatifid with narrow lobes
- stem leaves, clasping, pointed and bases are arrow shaped
- have two rows of bracts, inner are erect and the outer appressed as well
Crepis paludosa Marsh Hawk's Beard
+/- hairless. All leaves, shiny with wavy teeth
- basal leaves, entire with a short winged petiole
- stem leaves have backward pointing lobes
- involucre bracts with black sticky-tipped hairs
