Bromopsis ramosa - Hairy Brome
The graceful pendulous heads and hairy sheath of this woodland grass make it one of the easier grasses to identify. The heads are shorter than Brachypodium sylvaticum and it has long pointed auricles.
Brachypodium sylvaticum - False Brome
This is another graceful woodland grass. The heads are longer than Bromopsis ramosa and there are no auricles
Anisantha sterilis - Barren Brome
The term “Barren” refers to its agricultural production and not its reproduction.
Bromus hordeaceus - Soft-brome
This is a distinctive grass and is soft, the leaves are soft and the lower sheaths hairy.
