Persicaria - Bisorts, Peppers and Persicaria
Persicaria maculosa - Redshank
Persicaria amphibia - Amphibious Bisort
This can occur in grassland and water - hence the name.
The leaves are finely serrate, white-veined and sparsely hairy.
Persicaria bistorta - Common Bistort
Persicaria hydropiper - Water Pepper
This has green / white flowers with glandular hairs. The leaves have a peppery taste.
Persicaria lapathifolia - Pale Persicaria
Persicaria runcinata
This is a garden escaped and is well established in one site in the vice county. This is one of very few established site in the UK. I am pushing for it to be named “Bertwort”.
