Lolium species - Rye-grasses
Lolium perenne, Perennial Rye-grass is a very widespread agricultural grass and quite distinctive. The nodes are shiny and the youngest leaf is folded.
Lolium multiflorum, Italian Rye-grass is readily distinguished from the perennial one by the awns. However, some varieties have no awns and a dull node and the youngest leaf being rolled are more reliable.
